Dear all,
At first we would like to welcome you to the University Slobomir P! Aware of the fact that you are now probably a bit confused, it’s hard, because you suddenly receive a large number of new information and that everything is new and unfamiliar, we wanted to give you a little bit easier for initial orientation giving you here some basic information wich will hep you in the future. For easier orientation this guide is organized into four basic parts:
♦ About Bijeljina and Doboj.
♦ Finding your way in the building of the University
♦ Student Life
-The Academic part
– Part for life and fun
♦ Extracurricular activities
O BIJELJINI
It is indisputable that the freshmen who came from Bijeljina and Doboj will be a little easier these first days because they know these places, unlike their colleagues who come from other cities, so we wanted to and you are just starting out who these cities a little “help “! Bijeljina is the city and the seat of same municipality in the north-east part of the Republic of Srpska. It has a surface of 734km² and the total population is 150,000. The city is the municipality center and the historical seat of flat Semberija and mild foothills of Majevica. As a fertile plain city it is one of the centers for food production and trading. Bijeljina is recognizable by its spacious central square, and its beauty is additionally magnified by the pleasant ambient of the City Park. This is a city of youth and future. Step by step it becomes a very significant university center. The young are the main mark and to them belongs the future of this city, so today people invest a lot in the security and construction of the entertainment and cultural facilities.
O DOBOJU
Nowadays, Doboj is a city with around 35,000 citizens and near 90,000 citizens on the area of the whole municipality. During the last years, Doboj became the modern, ordered and perspective environment, and it returned the name of the multiethnic, multiconfessionalist and multicultural community, which is also the administrative and traffic center of the region. Beside the city of Doboj, the area of the municipality consists of 89 inhabited places formed in 73 communities. More about Doboj can be found on the website http://www.opstina-doboj.ba/.
AKADEMSKI DIO
You’ve signed college. Well, congratulations! You are now at the beginning of an interesting and exciting journey …
Change
Regardless of whether you still live with your parents or alone in a new city, numerous questions and dilemmas that you may not immediately know the answer to are waiting for you. Sometimes you’ll probably be confused and unsure about what is expected of you. One of the most important tips to get you going in life is, “ask anything you do not understand.” Although it sounds very easy, believe me, this question will save a lot of time, wrong decisions, and disappointments.
Commitments
Faculty is very different from high school (if it was not so, it probably would not even exist), primarily due to numerous duties taking upon themselves with the status of a student.
First, find out the schedule of lectures and practice classes, and try to remember it well (or if you are one of those who believe in writing, have a copy of the schedule always in your pocket). Meet teachers and assistants and ask them what you do not understand. Remember, there are no stupid questions!
Attend practice classes and lectures regularly. Take my word, in addition to being mandatory, it really is much easier to master the material when it is revised regularly. Do your homework!
Seminar papers, in addition to carrying part of the assessment, also serve to tackle certain issues and learn new things.
Take colloquia, and be positively surprised when you realize that the grade which the professor just entered in your index card is the result of everything you accomplished (as well as what you did not) during the semester. Because, that is the essence of the Bologna Declaration.
Studying
How and when to study? Eternal issues that trouble all the freshmen in the world. Trust me, you’re no exception.
First you need to take a list of required reading. Each teacher must submit a list of required and additional reading. Tip: since we live in the information age, most of the information can be found on the Internet. Use e-opportunities as much as possible and get used to a new way of research.
Attend lectures and practice classes regularly and take notes. You will need most of it for your tests. Ask about anything that you do not understand! The professor will be more than happy to answer.
After all the preparations, you need only sit down and study. If you accept the previous advice about activities in the classroom, you’ll be surprised by your ability to master the material. Also, be persistent. Some areas will not be of interest to you. You will have to revise some of them several times. Some information will “refuse” to be adopted. It is important not to give up; the winner is not the one who never falters, but the one who quickly bounces back after the failure and moves on!

During the year, the Student Union organizes many interesting events with entertaining and cultural character. So you’ll have the chance to enjoy parties, and to meet famous actors and enjoy theater performances.
